Tom Ollendorff

In truth, in a perfect world (has there ever been one?) Ollendorff’s compositions would be the staple fare of a future Great British Songbook.

About

Tom Ollendorff is fast becoming one of the most identifiable voices in international jazz. Known for a style that seamlessly blends virtuosic technique with a highly sophisticated harmonic language, Tom’s playing is defined by a rare combination of nuance and sensitivity.

Since relocating to London in 2016 following his studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Tom has built a global reputation as both a performer and educator. His debut album, A Song For You (2021), was met with international acclaim, launching a touring career that has seen him grace the stages of Ronnie Scott’s, The Cotton Club Tokyo, and major festivals from London and Malta to Vienne and Perth.

A prolific collaborator, Tom has worked alongside some of the most respected names in modern jazz, including Aaron Parks, Ari Hoenig, Ben Wendel, and Bill McHenry. His commitment to the craft extends to education; he is currently a visiting tutor at the Royal Academy of Music and has published his first collection of solo guitar works, Etudes, with Faber Music.

The Tom Ollendorff Trio

The core of Tom’s creative output, this long-standing ensemble features Conor Chaplin (Bass) and Marc Michel (Drums). Following the success of their 2023 release Open House, the trio has become known for their tight-knit telepathy and fluid, high-energy performances. The group is available as a standard trio or with special guests (previously including saxophonist Ben Wendel).

Solo Volume 1

In 2024, Tom launched his solo concert series, coinciding with the release of Solo Volume 1 on Ubuntu Records. This project showcases the intimate, acoustic side of his playing, stripping back the arrangements to focus on the pure melodic and harmonic clarity of the guitar. This programme is particularly suited for chamber halls, arts spaces, and boutique festival stages.
