Dr. Sofia Yatsyuk is an award-winning Ukrainian-British concert violinist, recording artist, academic scholar, and educator whose multifaceted career spans international solo stages, elite orchestral leadership, and high-profile commercial sessions.

A graduate of the Purcell School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London under Professor Mateja Marinkovic, Sofia completed her Master’s and Doctoral degrees at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Montreal under Professor Axel Strauss. Her stellar academic trajectory has been recognised by major international honours, including McGill’s Graduate Excellence Fellowship, the Heinz Saueressig Award for Academic Excellence, and the Marusia Yaworska Scholarship. As a soloist, she made her professional orchestral debut with the Ternopil Symphony Orchestra and has since toured extensively across Europe, North America, and Asia, delivering solo performances at Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall, the British Parliament in London, and Giuseppe Tartini’s historic house in Slovenia, which was broadcast live on national radio.

Equally prominent on the symphonic circuit, Sofia regularly performs with The Hallé—most recently in their performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 at the BBC Proms—and recently served as co-leader for the Chineke! Orchestra during their milestone 10-year anniversary concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Her extensive orchestral portfolio also includes engagements with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Lviv National Philharmonic, the United Strings of Europe, and the Orchestre Métropolitain.

Alongside her performing career, Sofia is a dedicated humanitarian, in particular volunteering in Ukraine for a number of different charities. Since 2021, she has been organising benefit concerts in Montreal, London, and New York to raise funding for Ukrainian orphanages, where she continues to regularly volunteer.
