Fraser Urquhart
“Extremely tasty sound at the piano”
About
Fraser Urquhart is one of the UK’s foremost pianists specialising in the jazz and American show-tunes of the 1920s–1950s.
Now based in London, he has established a reputation as an elite interpreter of the Great American Songbook, recognized for a sophisticated and restrained accompaniment style that has made him a first-call collaborator for the world's leading jazz vocalists.
Urquhart performs regularly at prestigious venues including Ronnie Scott’s, Crazy Coqs, and Pizza Express Jazz Club. His versatility as a leader and sideman has seen him share the stage with international artists such as Stella Cole, Gabrielle Stravelli, and Elaine Delmar, as well as jazz heavyweights Martin Taylor and Ralph Moore. In 2025, he released his debut leader album, I Leave This At Your Ear, to widespread critical acclaim, further cementing his status as a central figure in the contemporary mainstream jazz scene.
“He has taken the time to delve deep into the history of songwriting and of the great artists in jazz”
I Leave This At Your Ear
This project serves as Urquhart’s primary vehicle for exploring the depth of the American Songbook. Recorded at BBC Studios, the trio—featuring Lorenzo Morabito on bass, Max Popp on drums and Doug Urquhart on Guitar—delivers high-precision, elegant arrangements of choice standards. The project’s debut album, I Leave This At Your Ear (2025), has been praised for its technical clarity and stylistic authenticity, making the trio a premier choice for jazz festivals and high-end concert residencies.
Sure of You (Duo Collaboration)
A celebrated partnership with Jazz FM Artist of the Year Georgia Cecile, Sure of You is an intimate exploration of ballads and obscurities from the jazz canon. This project achieved significant commercial and critical success, reaching #3 in the UK Jazz Charts. The duo focuses on the "lost art" of the piano-vocal dialogue, delivering world-class performances for arts centers and international concert series.
The Sinatra Specialist
Recognised as a leading authority on the repertoire of Frank Sinatra, Urquhart is a specialist arranger and accompanist for high-stakes "Old Blue Eyes" productions. He works extensively with acclaimed Sinatra interpreter Richard Shelton and serves as the pianist and arranger for Sam Furlonger. This project combines Urquhart’s deep historical knowledge of 1950s swing with elite session-style precision, suitable for large-scale tribute shows and prestigious private engagements.
