Alexandra Standing is an award-winning London-based pianist, vocal accompanist, and chamber musician whose diverse career bridges the worlds of elite classical performance and high-profile classical-crossover.
An expert sightreader and an exceptionally versatile ensemble player, Alex graduated with distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London, specialising in collaborative piano under the tutelage of James Baillieu, Christopher Glynn, and Joseph Middleton. Her time at the Academy was marked by several prestigious accolades, including the Marjorie Thomas Art of Song Prize, the Nielsen Prize for French Song, and the Arthur Hervey Award. Since graduating, she has established a major presence on the UK concert and recording circuit, performing at world-renowned venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, and Maida Vale Studios, with her live and recorded broadcast performances featured on BBC Radio 3.
Alex is the official touring pianist for the celebrated classical-crossover soprano Laura Wright, accompanying her on high-profile live engagements internationally, including showcase events across the UK and concert appearances in Mexico. Alongside her active freelance diary, Alex is a regular presence at the Royal Academy of Music and serves as an official Artist and Ambassador for Coach House Pianos.

Alex is a premier specialist in partnering with vocalists across both traditional classical lieder and modern classical-crossover repertoires. Known for her sensitive, deeply communicative playing and intuitive stage presence, she works regularly with high-profile artists for elite private events, corporate galas, and luxury destination showcases. Her notable recital credits include performing as a Leeds Lieder Festival Young Artist and a Momentum Young Artist, alongside her ongoing international touring work with Laura Wright.
Orchestral Piano, Répétiteur Work & Choral Accompanying
With a powerful reputation for handling complex, dense scores on short notice, Alex is a first-call orchestral keyboardist and choral accompanist. She has a long-standing collaborative relationship with the BBC Singers, including tracking Jonathan Dove’s choral cycle The Passing of the Year at Maida Vale Studios. Her extensive freelance credentials span collaborations and professional répétiteur work for the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Waterperry Opera, Royal Academy Opera, and Hampstead Garden Opera.
Chamber Music & Session Recording
Alex is available for commercial studio tracking, remote recording sessions, and chamber music fixing. Backed by pristine sight-reading capabilities and extensive experience navigating new music, she works fluidly alongside contemporary composers, session orchestras, and media music production houses. Her experience spans traditional chamber music ensembles, commercial recording for film music orchestras, and unique, high-end intimate concert experiences, such as her regular summer piano-duo residency aboard the elite floating concert venue The Piano Boat.
