Thomas Ang is an award-winning British pianist, operatic répétiteur, and rare repertoire specialist whose technical prowess and highly distinctive programming have established him as a vital voice on the contemporary concert stage.
Thomas completed his advanced training at the Royal Academy of Music under Hamish Milne and Diana Ketler, and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under Andrew West and Eugene Asti. He has won numerous prestigious accolades for his performances of Beethoven, Delius, Bliss, and contemporary literature, performing extensively across the UK, Europe, and Asia. Highly regarded for unearthing overlooked masterworks and championing minority composers, Thomas has collaborated directly with icons of contemporary music including John Adams, Oliver Knussen, and the late Nikolai Kapustin.
Alongside his concert career, Thomas has built an impeccable reputation within the UK's elite dance and opera institutions, serving as a répétiteur and ballet pianist for The Royal Ballet, Opera Holland Park, and Longborough Festival Opera. Outside of music, he is a dedicated calligrapher and a recognised restorer of vintage fountain pens.

He is widely recognised as a global authority on the jazz-classical fusion of Nikolai Kapustin—having delivered multiple world-premiere performances of his works across the UK, US, and Asia—and is currently recording the complete solo piano works of Nikolai Medtner to widespread critical praise. Thomas is available for curated solo recitals, including specialised, evening-length programmes dedicated to Ukrainian piano literature and custom late-Romantic historical surveys.
Chamber Music & Vocal Collaborations
An exceptionally intuitive ensemble player with a deep foundation in opera and the art song repertoire, Thomas collaborates regularly with elite vocalists and instrumentalists for chamber series and song festivals. His collaborative work moves fluidly from complex 20th-century duo literature (including performing the complete non-sonata piano works of Pierre Boulez at the Aldeburgh Music Festival) to classical lieder. He is currently touring an exclusive recital programme showcasing the rarely performed Russian and German art songs of Nikolai Medtner alongside sopranos Christine Buras and Jessica Gillingwater.

Thomas brings an incredibly rare multi-disciplinary skill set to the roster as a fluent keyboard improviser and an accomplished commercial arranger for premier global publishing houses, including Schott Music and Edition Peters. He specializes in live, real-time improvisation—a skill he regularly integrates into his solo concert encores and utilizes to provide spontaneous, custom live keyboard scores for silent film screenings at international arts festivals. He is available for commercial studio tracking, custom score arrangements, and multi-genre crossover projects.
