Lucy Gijsbers is an award-winning New Zealand-Dutch cellist, classical pianist, and entrepreneurial director based in London. Known for her rich, expressive tone and elite ensemble agility, she maintains a versatile career spanning major symphonic appointments, international chamber festivals, and high-profile commercial session tracking.
Lucy graduated with a prestigious Artist Diploma from the Royal College of Music, London (RCM), where she was an RCM Scholar and graduated top of her class under the tutelage of Thomas Carroll. Prior to her London training, she completed her Bachelor of Music with First-Class Honors and her Master of Musical Arts at the New Zealand School of Music. Demonstrating rare dual-instrument mastery at the highest institutional level, she holds dual DipABRSM distinctions in both cello and piano performance. Her competitive accolades include being a primary prizewinner at the RCM Cello Competition and reaching the finals of the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) Chamber Music Competition.
A mainstay of the UK’s premier orchestral rosters, Lucy is a contract tutti player with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) and an alumna of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) Future Firsts program.
