Solo Recitals
Gonçalo maintains a busy international solo diary, delivering commanding programmes that bridge traditional classical structures with contemporary configurations. His recitals feature benchmark repertoire honed through masterclasses with legendary masters such as David Russell, Fabio Zanon, and Roland Dyens. Blending virtuosic concerto capability with intimate chamber phrasing, his solo sets are perfectly configured for prominent concert societies, international festivals, and cinematic recording sessions.
Volt Duo
Formed alongside guitarist Gus McQuade, the Volt Duo is Gonçalo’s primary classical chamber project. Celebrated for their dynamic interplay and technical precision, the duo is highly active on the international festival circuit, recently capturing the Second Prize in the chamber music category at the Lagoa Guitar Festival.
Jazz & Contemporary Collaborations
Leveraging his training in jazz guitar, Gonçalo leads his own contemporary jazz project, Maia, through which he released the acclaimed single Yellow. He is also a highly adaptable multi-instrumentalist, performing on bass guitar for the progressive jazz outfit Phemo Quartet. Following high-profile performances at iconic contemporary venues like London's Vortex Jazz Club, the quartet's debut album, Anti-Revelation, showcases Gonçalo's ability to operate seamlessly within the modern jazz and experimental music landscapes.
